Millanian Olympic Confederation issues defense and apology

The Millanian Olympic Confederation has issued a statement in regards to the recent withdrawal of the Aarianian Union from the MOF.

A spokesman from the MOC told the public as follows; "We have been informed that the Aarianian Union has departed the MOF on grounds of "drastic mishandling [of tiebreaker procedures.]" The MOC would first would like to apologize to cy-letes affected by the new coin-toss procedure, and older disqualification procedures. In accordance with MOF bylaws, a cy-lete must be given sufficient notice before their respective matches. As usual, matches held by the MOF do not have set times due to the multitude of time zones. This results in day-long time frames within which cy-letes may play (although the MOF does allow some headroom.)

Cy-letes are given notice the day their respective event begins, sometimes even the day before. Players competing on the first day and players in "special frames" (time zones in Europe and East Asia) are usually given an extra day to play their matches. National Olympic Committees (or equivalents) are expected to organize matches with opponents.

If the opponent of a player who has declared "standby" (a state in which said player is ready to play their respective match) are running behind schedule, they are given a minimum of ten hours of notice before a time limit. If the time limit is crossed, the player is disqualified and automatically loses the match.

If none of the cy-letes have declared standby, or both have declared standby, but cannot play the match, or a match results in a tie, a coin toss takes place to determine the winner.

The cy-lete representing Aariania missed his deadline in checkers. He also declared standby in his Tic Tac Toe match, but the match could not take place. Instead of conducting the coin toss on time, the 2019 Games officials instead broke procedure and gave the cy-lete an extra day, when the match still did not take place. Thus, a coin toss took place."

The President of the MOF, Matthew Salzer, also issued an apology: "It has come to the attention of the leadership in the Micronational Olympic Federation that the micronation of the Aarianian Union has chosen to withdraw from our organization due to disorganization in regards to the currently underway Millania 2019 Micronational eSports Games. The federation is aware that the tie breaker system and reporting times are not the most organized but are constantly working to improve on our competitions. We are in a constant state of learning and some competitions are done by trial and error. We will continue to improve based on our experiences and ask that all the competitors and nations involved in our federation be patient and forgiving in our short comings which we intend to certainly learn from. On all of our behalf, I apologize."
