Millanian Politics - Pre-Elections

Millania has recently been in a state of stagnancy when it comes to politics. Following the Resignation of Nicholas Randouler, Millania was provisionally placed under direct rule of the Imperial Council. This was a collection of Imperial Family Members. This is soon to end, as elections are around the corner, and politicians are picking their speeches back up, and preparing for a fresh new four lunar month term.

A new system has been implemented, where the top candidates nationwide (in a preferential system) gain one out of five seats (and possibly an extra if it is a landslide). This means the Prefecturals are now merely to elect the Prefect, and not an MT.

Hailing from the Conservatives, who won a minority Parliament (when it was still a parliament) last election, Nicholas Randouler, the former Prime Minister (now the office of Chancellor). He is known for his contrast to the liberal populous, and is a popular figure. He plans to turn Millania into a powerhouse, and high profile Empire. Rumour has it that he is planning on a merger between multiple parties, and even to form a Republic. However, his resignation for his lack of desire to run the country is not appreciated by the population.

The CBBP, known for its loss of two seats and the majority in the last election, have their party leader, Charlotte Baxter-Bray (the first elected prime minister) running yet again. She plans to turn Millania in a new direction, into activity and development.

The Liberals have a large contingent this election, hoping to maintain their position they already have. the Primaries are set to happen soon, with two candidates; Edmund Howell, a widely respected politician fro his 'Man of the people' attitude, and Austin Jaax, known for his strict policies on minute things, and uncanny diplomatic ability. The Liberals want to push Millania into a more open and equal society, with a diplomatic and economic policy to reflect as such.

The Marketists also hail some interesting candidates, with a brand new economic policy, and even a small manifesto. Their Chancillorial candidate is Risa Resnick, known for her quiet, brooding mannerism. Crown Prince Nicolás is also running, but has told the public he will not explicitly run for Chancillor, due to his desire to upkeep the checks and balances in place, and is widely respected as the father of most laws in Millania. He has announced his specific interest of retaining his post of Speaker.

Under the leadership of Chau Khang, the Communists do not have a candidate in the elections. This comes as a shock to the Cantonese citizens in Millania, who now have no one to throw their lot behind. The Imperial Family assures the people that both Ethan Leung and Chau Khang will be represented in the House of Burgesses.
