As of 2:00pm today, the governments of Jusin, Orientia, Huai Siao, and Millania have all entered into an extensive single market, customs union, and freedom of movement pact, after long months of planning and multiple renditions of the agreement. This single bloc is known as the Asia-Pacific Free Economic Community, or APFEC.
This union originally sprung from the groundworks of ASPAA, which was originally intended to have a similar structure. After the foundation of the Asia-Pacific Alliance, a group of member states showed interest in the project and eventually voted to make it happen as a separate entity within the alliance.
APFEC, in its very essence, is an economic union designed to streamline the existing economic agreements within the Asia-Pacific Alliance into one large bloc. It features a single market, which means that all nations involved have free trade and, for the most part, a common trade policy. It also features a freedom of movement pact, which removes all tariffs on trade as well as visa requirements between participants. APFEC was founded in order to strengthen bonds between the member states involved, and encourage political and economic development within all participating states.
These states do, however, now have a unified immigration policy as well, which in essence requires future trade and movement agreements with the states go through APFEC instead.
The Secretary General of ASPAA, Nicolás Millán, has released the following statement:
The Asia-Pacific Alliance today has founded yet another branch of the alliance, APFEC. With its foundation, the participant states of this organisation have signed an agreement to enter into an agreement which allows the free movement of people, goods, services, and ideas. This means more development amongst our member states. On top of this, from this agreement rises a new power, possibly, for the first time, equals with the alliances and powers in Europe and the Americas. With the foundation of this union comes a new era of prosperity, unity, and liberty among the micronations of Asia and the Pacific. My hope is that the success of APFEC's participants, and the Member States of ASPAA at large, will attract more nations to this alliance and open small communities of nations across the region to multinational cooperation.
